16th August
We had a push yesterday and I can now announce that Bus Shelter A is
now completed! Judith and her skilled team of artists have transformed
Bus Shelter A into something really spectacular with the shading and
tidy lining. There are a couple of minor – very minor flaws left
in – to remind us that after all it is the work of human hands,
and because Judith thought they were funny...
If you have worked on bus shelter A – we have a space for you to
put your signature, will let you know shortly how we can go about it.
ALSO Bus Shelter B beside the Golden Cross – is now finished as
far as the general public is concerned and is now in Judith and artist
team’s hands to complete.
Look out for the Bus shelter story in the Evesham Journal this week.
15th August
Mission Complete - The
public input to the painting of the Bus Shelters are now complete and
it is down to Judith and her small team to add the shading to bring the
pictures alive.
13th August
We are nearly there with our bus shelters – the Coach and Horses
shelter is being brought to its full glory under Judith’s
ministrations. Bus Shelter Golden Cross needs some final coats on and
some finishing off before we hand it over to Judith – and I hope
that we will be able to complete this on Monday. So do come and have a
last go – even if it is for half an hour or send the children
down and encourage them to do something other than watch television or
play computers.
12th August
Yesterday
went very well and we now think that we will finish the
“public” input by Monday. This will entail a day to day at
Bus Stop B (near the Golden Cross) and Saturday afternoon from 2.00 pm
and some of Monday starting at 10.00 am. The second bus stop has less
painting to do and it is easier to paint. So if you want a chance to
leave your bit for posterity then come on down.
11th August
James, Mel and several young people help to start put the colour on Bus
Stop B, the Golden Cross, And everyone has done so much! Maybe it might
be finished tomorrow. Today also the Journal has been out to take
pictures of some of the young people involved in the project, and
Judith and Lydia have been putting on the shading in shelter A.

25 July
Work has now Started, we had
several
different groups of people come down and help us clean out and white
wash the Coach and Horses shelter ready for work to begin on putting on
the outline by Judith.
Previously
Sue Jenkinson like
so many people in the village is less than happy by the state of our
bus
stops, so she approached the Youth Project on behalf of the Parish
Councillors to
see if we could help out.
The idea is to
decorate the bus stops with scenes from the village. The Youth Project
commissioned a local artist, Judith Selcuk who recently moved into Atch
Lench to
come up with some concept designs. Judith has spent some time
researching the
village and taking pictures and has now come up with 2 designs, one for
each of
the shelters, which were displayed over the Asparagus Festival weekend
and are now
on display in St James Church. She has also provided an explanation of
what was
behind her thinking when designing.
Sue is keen that as
many people as possible have a look at the pictures. So the plan is to
have
them on display in the church this week, and then move them to the
chapel next
week. Paper will be available for comments for any feedback. The
comments will
be passed on the Parish Council who will give the final decision on
design.
Following this we
plan to organise our young people to paint the pictures in the bus
stops under
guidance from Judith. So please take the opportunity to see the
pictures on
display and let us know what you think.
The designs for the murals
are based on the 'paint by numbers' theme. The outlines and black areas
would be painted on my the artist Judith Selcuk, and then the
individual coloured areas colour coded for the young people then to
paint then once completed Judith would then apply the shading and three
dimensional effects.
